Tuesday May 29, 6-9pm
$70/ $60 (members)
Instructor: Shannon Anderson

Description

Struggling to write an Artist Statement for a grant application, exhibition proposal or your website? This 3-hour workshop will help take the anxiety out the process by providing insight into the purpose of a statement while providing hands-on tips and exercises. Participants will be encouraged toward writing unique statements that summarize their individual artistic practices while learning how to situate their work within a wider artistic framework. Various published artist statements will be provided as resources, alongside a handout outlining the elements, goals and methods for writing effective statements. Participants will be asked to provide images of their work for group discussion and feedback. A small-class setting of no more than 6 individuals will allow for one-on-one input. Artists practicing in any medium may attend.
