In the Advanced Studio Lighting 201 workshop led by photographer Nathan Cyprys, participants will master the intricacies of advanced strobe lighting techniques in the studio. This workshop goes beyond the basics, focusing on artificial strobe lighting and its integration with constant light sources like daylight and LED lights. This integration opens up a realm of creative possibilities, allowing participants to craft versatile and dynamic lighting scenarios.
Unlocking advanced techniques to achieve captivating and unique effects, the workshop also delves into the use of advanced light modifiers, where participants will gain insights into the strategic application of softboxes, beauty dishes, grids, and other modifiers. Understanding the impact of modifier placement becomes crucial in shaping the quality and direction of light to meet specific artistic visions. Furthermore, participants will refine their control over lighting with hands-on experience using tools such as reflectors, flags, and gels. These instruments help fine-tuning and controlling the characteristics of light, adding a layer of precision to the creative process.
Participants are encouraged to bring along a reference image that captures a lighting style they admire but find elusive to replicate. Our goal is to demystify the techniques and equip participants with the proficiency to recreate captivating lighting scenarios. In the 3-hour workshop, student volunteers will serve as models for testing lighting setups to foster skill development and confidence for their own unique studio photoshoots.
All necessary materials will be provided.
