Suggesting domestic environments
using minimal arrangements of furniture, objects, and 18" x 24"
colour photographs montaged on the walls, Winch recreates familial spaces
he has discovered in abandoned homes on the outskirts of Toronto. Heavily
vandalized, these rooms retain traces of personal histories. The artist
has elaborated these vestiges with the addition of knick knacks and family
photos. Accompanying the installation, the artists dog occupies
the gallery like a faithful friend awaiting the return of his lost family.
