Exhibitions 2000-2001 July 20 - August 19, 2000 Legend and Other Works David Miller
Featuring a selection of photograms which are, according to Miller, built "upon a large and growing collection of organic debris gathered over the years from several continents: seeds, plants, insects, earth and cremated ash." Originally produced in conjunction with a series of installations investigating the representation of atrocity (based on historic archives), these camera-less images grew out of an exploration of the spaces normally absent from documentary representation-hidden corners in which metaphorical images arise. Legend, the central work in the exhibition, is composed of just over 1000 photographs forming a huge grid-a network of silken lines holding countless bright "forms" suspended in darkness.
