Ever attentive to the everyday discarded objects that find their way to our curb sides, Coulter obsessively photographs this detritus in the context of urban space. The artist sees the curb "as a space of display…a public site where one might catch fleeting glimpses into the lost and abandoned dreams of a culture." Arranging formal groupings of these 4" x 6" snapshots on the gallery walls, she sets up whimsical relationships between the photographs, the objects in them and their settings.
