Crystal Liu, Landscape
Project (detail), 2003, Courtesy Leo Kamen Gallery
Turning traditional photographic landscape representations literally upside
down, Liu isolates views and places them strategically in the exhibition
space. Liu writes that such a practice is my attempt to find a sense
of stability, and a sense of belonging.
Crystal Liu is a multimedia artist,
born in Toronto in 1980.Following the completion of her undergraduate
studies at the Ontario College of Art (2003), Liu moved to California
and obtained her MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. In addition to
exhibitions in Toronto, her photographic work, video, installation, and
drawings have been exhibited in Poland, Prague, and cities in the U.S.
Crystals work is presented courtesy of the Leo Kamen Gallery, Toronto.
