Calla Thompson

All Thompson’s works begin with sketches based on some violent action. This can be read in the gestures of the figures in her tableaux vivants. Familiar yet strange, these figures are the hopeless dupes of cartoon violence. They are disarming in their veneer of silliness, but carry an undercurrent difficult to dismiss.
