Exhibition Selection Committee Mandate and Structure
The Exhibition Selection Committee exists to program exhibitions in our main gallery, project room, and vitrines spaces and to carry out the tasks necessary to support that programming. Exhibitions are selected primarily from proposals submitted to our three annual deadlines, though sometimes project proposals are solicited by committee members. Some of the tasks we perform include soliciting proposals, brochure writing, curating shows by committee, promoting exhibitions, and developing publications.

The committee consists of 8 members, each has a full vote. Sitting on the committee are four Gallery 44 members, plus 2 staff (the director and the exhibition coordinator), and two individuals from the larger Toronto artistic community. Sitting members will nominate candidates to be on the committee (unsolicited nominees will also be considered). Gallery 44 ESC members will serve 2 years, with two new members beginning each year. Outside members will serve I year. Occasionally, the ESC invites curators to put together shows for Gallery 44. This allows for both international and otherwise underrepresented communities to show here.

Resource Centre Committee Mandate and Structure
This Committee looks after the physical space of the Resource Centre, including the computer station, magazines, books, and artist slide files. Currently, we are working in collaboration with the Data Base Coordinator on the construction and implementation of our Exhibitions Database, a 24-year (and counting) history of Gallery 44 exhibitions. This project is the culmination of roughly 5 years of preparation and development by the committee. During that time our focus has included brainstorming the form and language of the database as well as acquiring the necessary equipment and manpower to bring about its implementation. Committee members are also involved in the ongoing organization of orientations for members on the G-4 computer as well as computer maintenance.
