Timothy Neesam
Biography
Timothy Neesam was born in Bridgend, Wales, and emigrated with his family from Ireland to Canada in 1972.
He has worked as a producer and director on a wide range of arts and entertainment projects for CBC Radio, Radio 3 and CBCNews.ca. He is a member of Toronto's Gallery 44, the Riverdale Artists' Network, the Hangman 7 and the urban exploration group the Shadow Collective He has exhibited annually in Buffalo, New York and in Toronto, particulary during the Toronto photography festival Contact, since 2003. and is a participant in the Toronto Heritage project Building Storeys.
Timothy's photography is published in a variety of magazines and newspapers, from the Toronto Star and the Sunday Times to the Architect's Newspaper to the Indian Express and used in games developed by Menara Games and Gamenauts, Inc.
Of the places he photographs, Timothy says, "I am fascinated by the interiors of buildings and the beauty of architecture, even when the buildings are long forgotten. My photographs are an ongoing contemplation of time, place and sense of space. I hope my images capture something that is ephemeral, and illuminate both literally and figuratively."
Gumshoe Photos refers to Timothy's long-standing interest in exploring shadowy worlds ignored by others. While it's been said Timothy himself is something of a flatfoot, his photography is arresting.
