NEW! Online Fundraising for Artists

Tuesday, October 25, 2016,
6:00PM to 9:00PM
$ 30.00 CAD
$ 20.00 CAD

A workshop to help artists learn clever online ways to help fund their art projects.

Finding ways to fund your art practice can be one of the most daunting tasks you will face as an artist. Often we rely on a granting system to fund our practice and a commercial system once the work is complete. This workshop will help brainstorm ideas about how to subvert these structures and use the internet as a powerful tool for raising funds. Participants will explore how crowdfunding websites such as Kickstarter and Indigogo can be used to support specific projects. Platforms such as Patreon for ongoing subscription based community content will aslo be discussed. Participants will  begin with the simple step of creating a PayPal donation button to their website. Further, notions of a Gift Economy will be covered, exploring ways one can continue their practice while engaging in their community.

Led by artist Randy Grskovic who has crowdfunded over $30,000 for his practice using various internet platforms, this workshop will give participants the basic online infrastructure to start raising funds for their art project.
