About the Theme
StandUp
Our exhibition will try to affect or comment on larger social changes while also making space for those involved to stand up for themselves. We want to use the storytelling power of photography and photo-based art to go beyond the litany of images we are inundated with today and really say something about the world, to stand up for a cause or show how others are standing up to fight for what they believe in. We acknowledge that a person's personal struggles can also be of great value when spoken about in a public forum.
StandUp uses photography as a catalyst for communication; telling stories of struggle, resistance, resilience, and strength. By bringing together photographers from New Brunswick and Ontario we will show that art unites us all and that our experiences in this hyper-connected time are very similar.
