Gallery 44 invites you to join us on Field Trip 44: Fantasy Fair, an interactive site visit and artist talk by Hannah Doucet, in conversation with Phililp Leonard Ocampo. Join us as we visit the legendary Fantasy Fair, built in 1985 - it remains Ontario's largest indoor amusement park. Located inside of Woodbine Mall this field trip gives you the opportunity to visit an important cultural landmark and explore Doucet's practice through a probe into the artifice, amusement parks, escapism and constructed fantasy.
Your ticket includes a bus ride to and from Woodbine Mall and admission to Hannah and Philip's conversation which will happen in a party room on site. The party room is sadly up a flight of stairs and not-accessible. Food is not provided but we invite you to check out the Woodbine Mall food court. If you have any accomodations please let us know in advance.

"Fantasy Fair is more magical than you could ever imagine..." - Sameen Mahboubi
Hannah Doucet is a visual artist and arts educator from Winnipeg, based in Toronto. She works within photography, video and sculpture to explore fantasy, illness, and the body. She has exhibited at venues including the National Gallery of Canada, PLATFORM, Arsenal Contemporary Art and The New Gallery. Doucet won the inaugural PLATFORM Photography Award and was a recipient of the New Generation Photography award. She is one of four founders of Blinkers, a gallery in Winnipeg, where she was a co-director until August 2021. Doucet attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Summer 2024.
Philip Leonard Ocampo is an artist and arts facilitator based in Tkaronto, Canada. Ocampo’s multidisciplinary practice involves painting, sculpture, writing and curatorial projects. Exploring worldbuilding, radical hope and speculative futures, Ocampo’s work embodies a curious cross between magic wonder and the nostalgic imaginary. Following the tangents, histories and canons of popular culture, Ocampo is interested in how unearthing cultural touchstones of past / current times may therefore serve as catalysts for broader conversations about lived experiences; personal, collective, diasporic, etc.
He holds a BFA in Integrated Media (DPXA) from OCAD University (2018) and is currently a Programming Coordinator at Xpace Cultural Centre and one of four founding co-directors of Hearth, an artist-run collective based in the city.
