Capture, Curate, Connect: Installation Practice Using Photographic Images
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to alternative approaches to presenting and installing photographic images. Looking outside of the traditional photographic frame, artist Steven Beckly will demonstrate different strategies for exhibiting photographic artwork in galleries as well as in spaces outside of the conventional “white cube.” Participants will have the opportunity to practice installing their own images using everyday inexpensive materials.

In this 3-part workshop series, participants will explore the essential skills needed to document, curate, and present photographic artwork professionally. The series begins with a hands-on session on documenting artwork, where you'll learn to use available and studio lighting to capture high-quality images of both flat and three-dimensional works. The second workshop delves into installation strategies, emphasizing how to creatively use space to enhance the impact of photographic displays, with a focus on contemporary photo-based practices. The final session, led by a gallery director, offers insider knowledge on navigating the art market, assembling a portfolio, and preparing work for exhibition and sale. This comprehensive series equips emerging photographers with the tools they need to connect their work with a broader audience.
You can register for individual workshops, or all three by selecting the course fee.
