Join us in celebrating Gallery 44's exhibitions opening in three galleries!
In the Main Gallery, Proof 31 features the work of Zaynab Ghaïs-Mortada, Tommy Keith, Dion Smith-Dokkie, Parumveer Walia and Long Xi Vlessing. Proof is Gallery 44’s annual group exhibition of work by emerging Canadian artists, reflecting a range of current concerns and practices in contemporary photography and lens-based media.
In the Vitrines, Manny Wood Lynes-Ford documents Wells, British Columbia, a historic mining and logging town on the territories of the Lhtako Dene and Secwépemc peoples, in After They Leave—a testament to what happens when the relationship between humans and the land is forgotten.
In the Members' Gallery, Before or Through explores how much can be learned about culture and oneself while waiting for and travelling on subway trains—how repetition in life and a city can turn things from imposing to comfortable.
