NEW! Gallery Practices for the Emerging Photographer

Robyn Zolnai

Robyn Zolnai, the sales manager and communications officer at the Stephen Bulger Gallery, offers her first-hand expertise in the photography art market to those pursuing a career as a professional photographer. Through a variety of topics, participants will leave the workshop with the knowledge of how to assemble a portfolio, how to prepare work for exhibition and sale, understanding gallery structures, and setting professional goals. Participants are encouraged to bring working prints or a portfolio to receive insight on how to improve presentation for the commercial marketplace.

Robyn Zolnai completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours at York University in 2008. From 2010 to 2012 she attended Ryerson University where she obtained a Master of Arts in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management. Robyn is currently the sales manager and communications officer at the Stephen Bulger Gallery, and a guest lecturer on collecting photography and career development for emerging photographers at various high schools, colleges, and universities in Ontario.

Gallery 44 acknowledges that it is situated on stolen land. On the ancestral and traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabe and the Huron-Wendat, who are the original owners and custodians of this land that they continue to inhabit today.

Acknowledging the land on which we work and create is an important first step towards truth and reconciliation, however, much more needs to be done by settlers, by our government, and by us as arts practitioners to educate ourselves and others, and to endeavor to end ongoing colonial violence.

During this global pandemic, it is important to acknowledge that Indigenous communities in Canada continue to live under increasingly inequitable conditions.
