A series of lith developed prints exploring the capacity of the photograph to move beyond the realm of mere document into a world of dream, faded memory and inner emotion.
Jim Hurtubise was born in North Tonawanda, New York in 1960. Jim earned a degree in Architecture in 1985. He is a self-taught photographer and has continued to devote his work to analogue black and white photography for over thirty years. Jim has exhibited his work throughout the United States and Canada and his photographs have been included in shows for Toronto Nuit Blanche and the Contact Toronto Photography Festival. Distinctions include the Leonard Schugar Award for Excellence in Black and White Photography and Honorable Mention in the Gordon Parks Photography Competition. In 2007, Hurtubise also had a portfolio of his work published in the Special Awards issue of Black and White Magazine. He currently lives and works in Toronto.
