The idea for this project grew out of Traces, my most recent body of work where I play with the scale of objects. In this new work I continue to work with scale, focussing on the structures, textures and movements that exist in nature but are often overlooked. To illustrate this I have chosen to work with the seed head of the dandelion plant that I have collected and scanned. I have created two installations, each consisting of a breakdown of the botanical object into various representations such as the individual seed, deviations in nature of the same plant, and the perfect spheres before the seeds are disbursed. Printed using cyanotype on translucent Japanese paper, the seed heads will appear to float on opposite walls toward the gallery windows and the space beyond.
