Zipzapcaravan documents several tours with a diverse group of traveling musicians, actors and acrobats working in Europe, North America, Hawaii and Africa. Performers include a social circus training orphans in South Africa, a fifteen piece balkan/gypsy/klezmer band studying traditional music in isolated Roma villages of Eastern Europe, a commune for road-weary street performers in the jungles of Hawaii and a theatre company touring the Mediterranean via river barge. The common thread tying these nomadic performers together is a familiarity with the cycle of life on the road; resting, rehearsing, moving and gathering.
