Places We’ve Never Been explores the connection between her late grandmother and older women the artist photographed as subjects throughout the years. Inspired by a chance encounter in Vancouver, Lewis realized she was unconsciously searching for her grandmother through her practice of photographing women alone in nature.
The portraits, often taken from behind, capture a moment of introspection, with each subject seemingly lost in their own world. This exhibition highlights eight large-format framed photographs—the subjects' anonymities invite viewers into the image with their narratives and memories.
