Gallery 44’s annual fundraising exhibition in support of our education and exhibition programs returns! Representing the best in Canadian photography, Salon 44 brings together an incredible collection of over 60 established and emerging artists with works priced for both new and seasoned collectors alike. Salon 44 is co-chaired by Emilie Croning and Maegan Broadhurst.
Open Editions
We are delighted to present Salon 44’s Open Editions by artists Camille Rojas and Delali Cofie.
Camille Rojas (b. 1993 Toronto; lives and works in Toronto) is a multidisciplinary artist & artist-researcher working with film, photography and contemporary dance. Her work uses movement as the primary vehicle to dissect ideas and emotions. Recent interests include: Art world hysteria, self-care, astrology, whistleblowing, shit-disturbing, stock market drama and computer vision science. She holds a BFA in Photography Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University School of Image Arts.
Delali Cofie is a Ghanaian-Nigerian photographer currently living in Toronto, Canada. Through storytelling he engages in multiple genres of photography such as fine art, documentary, and fashion. His personal work presents subtle beauty whilst exploring themes of family, self-formation and community. Frequently creating work between his native city Accra and current city Toronto, his work tells a tale of two cities, linked by a diasporic thread. His work has been exhibited in galleries across Ontario, namely Gallery 44 (2021) and Gallery 101 (2022). He is currently completing a BFA in Photography at OCAD University.
Artist Books and Publications
Salon 44 will also include a publications section, including G44 publications and a curated selection of books and zines from the membership and friends of the gallery. Publication sales will support the Writer-in-Residence publication program and the facilities’ library.
Make a difference
All proceeds from the sale of the artworks directly support our charitable mission to support artists through meaningful production, education and exhibition opportunities.
TIW ‘Best in Show’ Award
Toronto Image Works is generously awarding Bahar Kamali for their work Swimming, this joyful sport, $500 in production support at TIW.
Bahar Kamali is a lens-based artist working within the mediums of photography, video, installation and the book format. Their practice is process based and involves combining research and playful material explorations. They currently reside in Tkaronto, Canada.
Gallery 44 Emerging Artist Award
Gallery 44 is awarding Joy Adeola for brothers at play and Stephen Attong for Bus to Belém, a membership and production credit at Gallery 44 for the continued support of their artistic practices.
Joy Adeola Adeyemi (b. 1999) (b. 1999) is a Nigerian-Canadian photographer based within the GTA. Through storytelling, she captures the vitality of life and human relationships, documenting their changing rhythms in ways that are dually universal and intimate.
Stephen Attong (b.1994) is a Trinidad-born, Toronto-based photographer. His work explores sentimentality in public spaces. From amusement parks to quiet moments with friends, hidden beneath playful colours and structures is deep contemplation of shared experiences. He intends to enable viewers to relate to, recall or imagine their own memories in his work. Often inspired by screenplays and cinema, Attong explores how these experiences, perspectives and ideas can co-exist through the common anchor of a still image. Attong has exhibited in Canada and received support from the Ontario Arts Council.
