Bio
Curtis Saretske got his start in photography as a teenager, when he inherited his father’s Minolta. Ever since, he’s taken pictures of the things that amuse him — everyday, benign sightings and occurrences that make him chuckle.
His pigeon series, which he started during the Pandemic, is a collection of portraits of the common bird close up — with attitude. His tourist series are photos of people taking photos, spotlighting the modern condition of capturing every experiences on camera. Interested in the absurdity of the mundane, Curtis creates images that demand a closer look.
Curtis studied film and video at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design. He hides somewhere in Toronto with his wife, 10-year-old boy, and two cats.
