Bio
Linda Briskin is a writer and fine art photographer. She is intrigued by the juxtaposition of objects and reflections, the permeability between the remembered and the imagined, and the ambiguities in what we choose to see. She is fascinated by the fluidity between the natural and the constructed, and the authentic and the fabricated. She has a passion for nature and seeks light, texture, lines, shadows, and reflections, images that may last only a breath. She uses photo collage to construct unique and painterly photographs which both embrace and displace the original images. Her focus, then, is on inventing images rather than capturing them. In 2021, Briskin’s photographs were published in The Hopper, Flare Journal and Alluvian. She recently made a video—The Release which uses eighteen of her images to reflect on a piano trio written by Kye Marhsall (The Return). In 2021, her photographs were also chosen for the Herstory exhibit sponsored by Manhattan Arts International, the International Photography Exhibition at Viewpoint Gallery in Nova Scotia, and the Carmichael Canadian Landscape Exhibition at the Orillia Museum of Art and History.
