Bio
Like many before him in the history of photography, Stephen Della Casa embraces new technologies and processes in his work with digital equipment. He explores cultural and social issues through conceptual and abstract interpretations, often focusing on the natural world, with occasional ventures into architecture and portraiture. Born in Canada to German and Italian parents, Stephen emphasizes personal expression over documentation. His work frequently delves into family migration history, spanning regions such as the Czech Republic, the former Sudetenland, northern Italy, and Ontario, Canada. Grounded in research, many of his projects take the form of books, which he views as an essential medium for sharing his art. After a thirty-five-year career in hospitality, he fully committed to his creative pursuits, blending research with a reflective and selective process.
