Cristian Ordóñez is an independent graphic designer, photographer and publisher, based in Toronto since 2008. Ordóñez has exhibited in multiple group and solo exhibitions in Canada, Chile, the United Kingdom, Russia, Greece, Mexico, the United States and the Netherlands with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Toronto Arts Council and the Ontario Art Council. Ordóñez has won the Urbanautica Institute Award, the Burtynsky Grant, the OMNE – Osservatorio Mobile Nord Est L and the residency program prize 2023-2025. Ordóñez has taught and lectured about photography and graphic design in collaboration with VU Photo, OCAD University, Gallery 44, Toronto Metropolitan University, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and CONTACT. His publications are in the library collections of the National Gallery of Canada, Museum of Modern Art, San Telmo Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, Biblioteca Nacional de Chile, York University Libraries and the National Library of Australia.
Since 2020, Ordóñez has worked as the Photo Editor and Design Director for Another Earth, a publisher of artist books and ephemera based in Vermont and Toronto—designing books and exhibitions with artists and institutions such as Ruth Kaplan, Andrew Querner, Alan Huck, Jonas Feige, Kate Schneider, Abbey Meaker, Betty Bogaert, Katherine McKittrick, Liz Ikiriko, James Helmer, Art Gallery of York University, La Triennale di Milano, Birkhäuser Verlag, Galería Animal, Penguin Books US, Paripé Books, Metalibro, among others.
