Heather Fulton is a photo-based artist specializing in historical and experimental photographic processes. Her work explores the fragility of memory and the vulnerability of nostalgia. Recently, her work focuses on the idea of the origin story, dissecting how ancestry and non-genetic histories form the roots of identity. Her work has been supported and exhibited extensively.
Curiosity, experimentation and self-learning are key to Heather's practice, both as an artist and instructor. Her background includes over twelve years of working with artist-run and nonprofit arts organizations as a program facilitator, artist mentor, exhibition technician, and gallery operations coordinator. In addition to private instruction, Heather teaches at Fleming College's Haliburton School of Art & Design.
