About Membership

Membership is open to everyone but becoming a member is a step-by-step process. Gallery 44 is committed to building a sustainable and supportive environment for the advancement of contemporary photographic practice. Following our carefully developed membership procedure is important to realizing this goal.

Gallery 44 is a small organization; members are expected to use the facilities independently. Gallery 44 offers several services to support our members in their artistic development, including one-on-one workshops and portfolio reviews.
‍
Members shape the Gallery 44 community. We ask members to volunteer at various activities and to attend openings, public programs, and events. Getting involved in different levels of the organization offers members an opportunity to strengthen our organization and to belong to a larger arts community in Toronto and beyond.

Full Membership

$180 per year
‍$125 for full-time students/65+ seniors

‍This membership level provides 24/7 access to Gallery 44’s production facilities. Full members receive all member benefits as well as discounts on equipment rentals and framing orders.

Day Membership

$94 per year
‍$63 for full-time students/65+ seniors

‍This membership provides access to Gallery 44’s production facilities during Gallery 44’s office hours only, Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 am to 5 pm. Day members receive all member benefits.

Community Membership

$50 per year

‍
‍This membership level is for artists, supporters, writers and curators who are interested in supporting Gallery 44, attending events and volunteering, but are not intending to use the facilities.

Gallery 44 acknowledges that it is situated on stolen land. On the ancestral and traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabe and the Huron-Wendat, who are the original owners and custodians of this land that they continue to inhabit today.

Acknowledging the land on which we work and create is an important first step towards truth and reconciliation, however, much more needs to be done by settlers, by our government, and by us as arts practitioners to educate ourselves and others, and to endeavor to end ongoing colonial violence.

During this global pandemic, it is important to acknowledge that Indigenous communities in Canada continue to live under increasingly inequitable conditions.
